Leading MTN Uganda’s Digital Transformation

As CEO of MTN Uganda, Mulinge is responsible for guiding the company’s strategic direction and operational performance while advancing its vision of providing digital solutions for Uganda’s progress. She oversees initiatives aimed at expanding voice, data, fintech, and enterprise services to millions of subscribers across the country. Under her leadership, the company continues to pursue its Ambition 2025 strategy, focused on driving digital inclusion, strengthening market competitiveness, and creating sustainable value for shareholders and communities alike.

A Transformative Tenure at Safaricom

Before joining MTN Uganda, Mulinge spent nearly fifteen years at Safaricom PLC, one of Africa’s most successful technology companies. During this time, she held several senior leadership roles, including Chief Consumer Business Officer and Chief Customer Officer. In these positions, she was responsible for leading major revenue streams, overseeing mobile data, voice, and digital services, and strengthening Safaricom’s brand engagement with millions of customers across Kenya.

Earlier in her Safaricom career, Mulinge served as Director of Consumer Business and General Manager of Enterprise Business, where she played a key role in expanding the company’s market leadership. She spearheaded strategies that accelerated revenue growth, strengthened customer segmentation, and enhanced the company’s digital offerings. Her leadership also contributed to innovative initiatives aimed at bringing the company closer to both consumer and corporate customers while reinforcing Safaricom’s reputation as a technology-driven organization.

A Career Rooted in Brand Building and Strategy

Mulinge’s professional journey began in the consumer goods sector at Unilever, where she developed her expertise in brand management and marketing strategy. From managing leading household brands to shaping regional marketing initiatives, these early experiences laid the foundation for her leadership in large-scale commercial organizations. Today, as CEO of MTN Uganda, she continues to leverage this diverse experience to drive innovation, strengthen digital ecosystems, and support the transformation of Africa’s telecommunications landscape
