Oghenekevwe Ogefere has been appointed as the new Head of Legal and Company Secretary at PZ Cussons Africa.
In an announcement on her official LinkedIn page, Ogefere expressed pleasure at the appointment, describing it as an exciting opportunity to contribute to the governance and strategic direction of one of Africa’s leading consumer goods companies.
“This appointment presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the governance and strategic direction of one of Africa’s most respected consumer goods companies at a time when the legal, regulatory and corporate governance landscape continues to evolve,” she stated.
Ogefere brings extensive experience in corporate law, regulatory affairs, compliance, and company secretarial practice. She has worked across the FMCG, manufacturing, and energy sectors, with a strong background in contract negotiation, corporate governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement with regulators.
Prior to her new role, she served in senior legal and compliance positions at Nigerian Breweries Plc, where she held responsibilities as Data Protection Officer and Senior Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Manager.

She also gained significant experience as Senior Legal Counsel at Funtay Global Resources Ltd, Tako E&P Ltd, and Funtay Marine & Logistics Ltd, handling complex commercial agreements, board secretarial duties, and regulatory compliance.
Her earlier career includes roles at LPC Solicitors and Akindelano Legal Practitioners, where she focused on corporate governance, capital market transactions, litigation support, and legal advisory services.
In her statement, Ogefere highlighted the importance of strong governance and ethical leadership. “Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with exceptional leaders and colleagues across multiple sectors… These experiences have reinforced my belief that strong governance, compliance, sound legal judgment and ethical leadership are fundamental to sustainable business success.”
She expressed gratitude to her family, mentors, colleagues, and friends for their support and looked forward to collaborating with the Board, colleagues, and stakeholders across Africa to strengthen governance and drive responsible business practices at PZ Cussons.
