Bboxx, a leading data-driven energy access platform operating across Africa, has announced the appointment of Mrs. Ene Adesanya as the new Managing Director of Bboxx Nigeria, effective immediately following the transition of the outgoing Managing Director, Mr. Ernest Akinlola, who stepped down at the end of January after five years in the role.
Mrs. Adesanya, a seasoned finance and business leader with over 17 years of professional experience, brings deep expertise in financial governance, market expansion, and strategic leadership to her new role. She previously served as Head of Finance at Bboxx Nigeria, where she played an instrumental role in supporting the company’s growth, strengthening financial governance, and delivering value across both commercial and donor-funded programmes.
Before her elevation, she was central to driving Bboxx Nigeria’s operational and financial performance, contributing significantly to the organization’s strategic direction and business sustainability. Her leadership experience and industry insights position her to lead Bboxx’s efforts to scale its operations and impact in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving energy market.
In her new capacity, Mrs. Adesanya will oversee Bboxx Nigeria’s participation in the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up (DARES) fund, with a key mandate to expand access to essential energy services to more than 100,000 households in 2026, including through off-grid solar systems, solar irrigation solutions for farmers, and innovative financing solutions for smartphones to bridge the digital divide.
Commenting on the appointment, Anthony Osijo, Group CEO of Abci-Nexus, expressed strong confidence in the new Managing Director’s leadership and strategic capabilities:
“I am delighted to welcome Ene into the role of Managing Director for Bboxx Nigeria. This transition highlights Bboxx’s commitment to developing internal talent, promoting from within and ensuring consistent, strong leadership as we continue to double down on our key markets.

Commenting on her new role, Mrs. Adesanya reaffirmed her commitment to sustainable development and delivering impact through energy access:
“I joined Bboxx because I believe in building sustainable, impact-driven energy businesses that deliver real change. Through our participation in the DARES fund and our range of energy and financing solutions, we are well-positioned to significantly expand access to essential services for Nigerian households and businesses in 2026 and beyond.”
Under Mrs. Adesanya’s leadership, Bboxx Nigeria is poised to accelerate its contribution to Nigeria’s energy transition, deepen its market footprint, and deliver value to stakeholders while unlocking new socioeconomic opportunities for communities across the country.
