Faith Wawira Nyaga appointed Acting Deputy Director of ICT at Water Resources Authority

Faith Wawira Nyaga, a seasoned ICT professional with over 13 years of experience in water resources management technology, has been appointed Acting Deputy Director of ICT at the Water Resources Authority (WRA).

Nyaga announced her appointment on LinkedIn, expressing gratitude and humility at the new responsibility. She officially assumed the role in June 2026.

In her new position, Nyaga provides strategic leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and governance of ICT initiatives to support WRA’s digital transformation, service delivery, cybersecurity, and innovation. Her responsibilities include overseeing enterprise systems, infrastructure, digital services, technology investments, and ensuring alignment with national government policies and regulatory frameworks.

She joined WRA in January 2013 as an Information Communication and Technology Officer and has steadily risen through the ranks. Prior to her current appointment, she served as Assistant Director – ICT from February to June 2026, and as Principal ICT Officer from August 2024 to February 2026. She also held the position of Ag. Principal ICT Officer between August 2023 and August 2024.

Throughout her tenure at WRA, Nyaga has played a pivotal role in modernizing water resource management systems. Her key achievements include the development and implementation of the Water Resources Knowledge Base Portal, the Flood Forecasting and Early Warning System (in collaboration with the Kenya Meteorological Department), and the deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for real-time data monitoring. She has also led the integration of critical systems such as the Laboratory Information Management System, Smart Water Metering, and Decision Support Systems.

Beyond her technical contributions, Nyaga has been actively involved in promoting gender equity and inclusion in the technology sector. She currently serves as SheLeadsTech Liaison for the ISACA Kenya Chapter, where she champions initiatives to advance women in digital trust professions. She previously held the position of Director of Special Programs at the chapter, focusing on scholarships, community outreach, and partnerships with academia and government.

Her broader experience includes work as ICT Counterpart for the Kenya Water Security & Climate Resilience Project (a World Bank initiative), Personal Assistant to the CEO at WRA, and earlier roles in IT operations at Uchumi Supermarkets.
