The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is set to partner with the National Association of Women in Colleges of Education on a nationwide initiative to deliver digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and STEM training aimed at empowering female educators and the students they mentor.
The collaboration was formalised during a meeting at NITDA Headquarters, where the association’s North-West Zonal Coordinator, Zainab Inuwa Adamu, presented the proposal and formally invited NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, to serve as Patron of the association’s forthcoming national conference of Federal Colleges of Education.
Adamu highlighted the association’s more than three-decade legacy of advocating for female educators and empowering young girls through practical vocational programmes in skills such as tailoring, knitting, and soap-making. She emphasised the need to expand these efforts into the digital and technology space.

Welcoming the invitation, DG Inuwa stressed the importance of sustainable capacity building over one-off interventions. He proposed the design of comprehensive digital literacy and IT skills programmes tailored for association members, with a nationwide rollout that could be formally launched at the upcoming conference.
The planned initiative will also incorporate training in digital marketing, business planning, and entrepreneurship to strengthen women’s economic ventures, while creating structured mentorship pathways for the girls under their care.
Underscoring NITDA’s gender-inclusive innovation agenda, the Director-General called for deliberate expansion of the STEM pipeline to enable more young women to pursue high-value careers in artificial intelligence, data science, and technology.
He further committed to providing digital tools and learning materials, and extended an invitation for the association to participate in the Digital Nigeria Conference 2026.
