Global communications group Havas has appointed Roxana Ravjee as Chief Executive Officer for Africa, as the agency prepares for its next phase of growth across the continent.
The appointment reflects Havas’ view that Africa’s future should be shaped by African leadership — leaders who understand its people, celebrate its diversity and are committed to unlocking its potential.
Ravjee will report to Dany Naaman, currently Chief Executive Officer of the Middle East region (Media), who is expanding his responsibilities to include strategic oversight of Africa. Naaman will continue to co-lead the Middle East media business alongside Bertille Toledano on the creative side.
In her new role, Ravjee will oversee day-to-day operations across Havas’ African network, working with teams in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa. Together with Naaman, she will drive the group’s growth strategy, strengthen collaboration, accelerate innovation and deliver impact for clients and communities.

Provit Chemmani, who has served as CEO Africa and Global Managing Director — COE at Havas Media Network for the past two years, will oversee a smooth leadership transition until the end of 2026 before moving into a global role. Chemmani has been credited with strengthening Havas Africa’s presence, building capabilities and nurturing talent.
“Leadership is ultimately about knowing when a business is ready for its next evolution,” Chemmani said. “I am incredibly proud of what we have built across Africa — the talent we have developed, the relationships we have strengthened, and the culture we have created. Roxana brings the experience, energy and perspective needed for this next chapter. I have every confidence that she will take Havas Africa forward with authenticity and ambition.”
Ravjee joins Havas with more than 20 years of experience across marketing, advertising, transformation and growth. She most recently served as CEO of Dentsu South Africa. Colleagues describe her leadership style as hands-on and people-centred, built on listening to teams, understanding clients and staying close to the work.
She has emphasised that authenticity is central to how she leads and that people perform best when they can bring their full selves and ideas into the room. As the industry navigates rapid advances in artificial intelligence, Ravjee believes human connection will become even more valuable — a view that aligns with Havas’ philosophy of “Growth, Powered by Desire.”
“Africa has always been a continent driven by creativity, resilience and possibility,” Ravjee said. “What excites me about this opportunity is being able to contribute to a business that recognises the power of people and the importance of meaningful work. Technology will continue to transform our industry, but our ability to understand people, solve real challenges and create connections that matter will always be our greatest strength.”
