CBN appoints Temitope Akin-Fadeyi new Deputy Director, CPFI

Temitope Akin-Fadeyi has been appointed Deputy Director of the Consumer Protection and Financial Inclusion (CPFI) Department at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), marking a significant milestone in a distinguished career dedicated to expanding access to finance and strengthening consumer safeguards across Nigeria’s financial system.

Akin-Fadeyi, a seasoned financial inclusion and development finance expert, brings deep institutional knowledge and extensive policy experience to the role.

Her elevation follows a progressive trajectory within the Central Bank, where she previously served as Assistant Director in the same department, as well as in the Financial Policy and Regulation Department and the Development Finance Department.

Over the years, she has played a central role in shaping Nigeria’s financial inclusion architecture. As pioneer Head of the Financial Inclusion Secretariat, she coordinated the implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy, engaged high-level stakeholders, and established critical structures including the Digital Financial Services Programme Management Unit and the Gender Desk.

Temitope Akin-Fadeyi also served as Secretary to the National Financial Inclusion Steering and Technical Committees and drove the state-level domestication of the strategy nationwide.

In the Development Finance Department, Akin-Fadeyi served as a subject-matter expert on financial inclusion, coordinating the National Strategy implementation, advancing non-interest finance options for underserved segments, and supporting initiatives aimed at boosting non-oil exports, including the cocoa development agenda.

With her new mandate, Akin-Fadeyi is expected to further strengthen consumer protection frameworks while advancing policies that deepen financial inclusion for women, youth, micro-entrepreneurs and other underserved groups. Her appointment reinforces the Central Bank’s commitment to building a more inclusive, resilient and consumer-centric financial system.
