Martha Murorua is the Managing Director of Nedbank Namibia where she oversees the company’s financial activities.
Her appointment commemorated a significant development within the country’s banking industry, echoing a broader trend of increased female representation in executive leadership.
Murorua brings nearly three decades of experience in the financial services industry, bolstered by a robust academic and work experience background. Her career background has given her a well-rounded perspective on retail banking, operational leadership, and customer-focused strategies.
Her journey began at Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade as a Statistician and Accountant where she gave impacts and gained grounds in Strategy formulation and development, Budgeting, Business Planning.
Murorua continued her career journey as an Internal Auditor at TRANSNAMIB LIMITED where she gained more grounds in Internal Audit, Sales & Distribution.
She also worked as Audit Assurance- External auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers, then she also proceeded to work at Old Mutual Namibia where she held few positions,
Murorua started there as the Finance and Operations Manager (Retail Mass Market), where she supervised Budgeting, Expense management, Operational efficiencies, Business planning and strategic initiatives implementation, Business case development.
She later became the Executive Manager Retail Mass Market and also the Executive Strategic Initiatives where she supervised the, Strategy Execution, Business development, Distribution Head, Leadership Development, Coaching, Succession planning.
Before her role at Nedbank Namibia, Martha Murorua was the Executive Officer for Consumer Banking at FNB Namibia, where she demonstrated history of working in the financial services industry.

Murorua assumed leadership of Nedbank Namibia during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when financial institutions were under pressure to adapt swiftly, her focus was on maintaining operational stability and enhancing the bank’s presence within Namibia’s economy.
Under Murorua’s supervision, Nedbank Namibia has strengthened its commitment to sustainable financing. The bank aims to support development initiatives that align with Namibia’s long-term economic and environmental objectives. The bank has introduced various solutions to help small businesses and encourage inclusive growth.
The bank delivered a strong financial performance during the first half of 2026, at which profit after tax increased by 24.4% to N$239.0 million, compared with N$193.3 million in the corresponding period of 2025.

Also, net interest income increased by 7.6% to N$517.4 million, underpinned by growth in interest-earning assets and sound balance sheet management. Non-interest revenue increased by 10.7% to N$285.4 million, demonstrating the continued diversification and strength of our revenue base.
In addition to her role at Nedbank, Martha Murorua was the former Chairperson of the Bankers Association of Namibia, where she influences policy discussions across the financial sector.
