Sarah Arapta is a businesswoman and corporate executive from Uganda, She is a seasoned Ugandan banking executive combining strategic vision, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to customer empowerment.
With over two decades of experience in the banking sector, including key leadership roles at Stanbic Bank and Barclays corporate banking, she has earned a reputation for strategic vision and operational excellence.
As the Chief Executive Officer of Citibank Uganda, She is responsible for expanding access to financial solutions in the banking sector and she also steered the institution through dynamic growth, fostering innovation, stakeholder relationships, and sustainable financial services in Uganda’s evolving economy.
Sarah’s journey began as the Head of Corporate Banking at Stanbic Bank and later became the Head of investment banking at the same bank. This role marked the beginning of her leadership journey where she gained valuable experience in commercial operations, customer relationship management, and banking strategy.

She also served as the Director, Corporate and investment banking at Barclays Corporate banking where she directed the affairs of the corporate and investment sector of the bank.
Sarah Arapta is a highly qualified banking executive who currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Managing Director (MD) of Citibank Uganda, where she has led significant growth in the bank’s assets and operations.
In 2022, she made history by becoming the first female Chairperson of the Uganda Bankers’ Association and is still currently the chairperson part time.
