The Lagos State Government has called for greater adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) among women entrepreneurs, stressing that access to technology is critical for improving productivity and scaling businesses.
The two-day programme brought together more than 300 women-led businesses across manufacturing, agribusiness, food processing and nutrition, with the second day focused on digital transformation and AI applications.
Through a Google Hustle Academy-led bootcamp, participants explored the use of AI in business strategy, marketing, finance and daily operations, including ways to improve decision-making and productivity.
The Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Hon. Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem, made the call at the closing of the third edition of the W.O.M.A.N. 2026 programme, organised by Alitheia Capital in partnership with the ministry.
Ambrose-Medebem said AI was no longer a tool reserved for large corporations, noting that small businesses could deploy the technology to manage inventory, attract customers and reduce operational costs.

She said the state government remained committed to supporting women-led businesses with access to finance, markets and technology through initiatives such as LASMECO, LASERP and the Lagos State Industrial Policy 2025–2030.
Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Alitheia Capital, Tokunbo Ishmael, said digital literacy had become a business necessity as AI-generated content and online commerce continued to expand.
Ishmael, however, urged entrepreneurs to verify AI-generated information and avoid accepting such content without scrutiny.
The Lagos State Govt thereby calls on female entrepreneurs to making efficient use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for their businesses and also ensure that they confirm the information before accepting the content.
