NIRSAL Plc has announced the appointment of Mrs. Simisola (Joseph) Ojumu as Executive Director, Technical, marking a significant addition to the institution’s senior leadership team. The appointment underscores NIRSAL’s continued drive to deepen private capital mobilisation into Nigeria’s agriculture sector and reinforce its position as Africa’s pioneering agricultural credit risk-sharing institution.
Mrs. Ojumu brings two decades of distinguished experience as an investment banker and corporate finance professional. Her career has been defined by expertise in capital raising, sophisticated transaction structuring, investment origination, and the successful execution of complex financial deals spanning the banking, manufacturing, and broader financial services sectors.
Throughout her professional journey, she has consistently demonstrated the ability to build and manage robust investment pipelines, mobilise substantial capital, cultivate enduring institutional relationships, and negotiate intricate transactions involving diverse counterparties and innovative financing structures. This commercial and investment acumen is expected to prove invaluable as NIRSAL works to expand the sustainable flow of commercial finance into agriculture at scale.
Prior to joining NIRSAL, Mrs. Ojumu served as Managing Director, Investment Banking at CapitalSage Holdings Limited, a conglomerate focused on building global businesses from Africa. Earlier in her career, she held progressive senior roles that sharpened her capabilities in equities, fixed income, and institutional sales.

These included Vice President for Equities and Fixed Income Sales at Absa Group Nigeria, where she led capital-raising and trading activities; Equity Sales roles at Renaissance Capital focused on domestic and international investor engagement; and Head of Institutional and Corporate Sales at CardinalStone Partners Limited, where she drove significant growth in brokerage volumes and capital-raising mandates.
She also gained foundational experience in institutional advisory, portfolio management, and transaction execution at WSTC Financial Services Limited and LeadCapital Limited, contributing to rights issues, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings.
In her new role at NIRSAL, Mrs. Ojumu will oversee critical technical functions and strategic relationships that bridge agribusinesses and agricultural value chains with banks and other financial institutions. Drawing on her deep background in investment banking, transaction structuring, and capital mobilisation, she will help advance NIRSAL’s mission of facilitating greater private-sector financing for Nigerian agriculture.
A graduate of the University of Lagos and the Lagos Business School, Mrs. Ojumu holds several professional designations that reflect her standing in the capital markets. She is an Authorised Dealing Clerk of the Nigerian Exchange Group, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria, and a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment in the United Kingdom.
