Standard Bank Namibia names new Head of Public Sector Banking

Standard Bank Namibia has announced the appointment of Magreth Mengo as Head of Public Sector Banking, a strategic move that underscores the bank’s commitment to deepening its impact on national development through experienced internal leadership.

A seasoned banker with over 13 years at Standard Bank Namibia, Mengo brings a rich blend of strategic insight, stakeholder management expertise, and a proven track record in brand building and customer experience. She previously led the bank’s Marketing, Communications, Brand, Sponsorships, and Corporate Social Investment functions, where she played a pivotal role in enhancing the institution’s reputation and forging meaningful partnerships across Namibia.

Mengo holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in International Financial Management from the Amsterdam School of Business. Her career spans various leadership positions within the bank, including Manager of Vehicle Asset Finance and Manager of Customer Service and Experience. She also gained valuable international exposure early in her career at ING Nederland in Amsterdam.

In her new role, Mengo will spearhead the bank’s Public Sector Banking strategy. She will be responsible for cultivating and strengthening relationships with government ministries, state-owned enterprises, local and regional authorities, as well as high commissioners and ambassadors. Her mandate includes delivering tailored financial solutions that support infrastructure development, economic transformation, and sustainable growth initiatives across the public sector.
